We have big plans for this room later down the road so for now I wanted to do easy upgrades. This room was begging for some color & personality. I wanted it to be fun for the kids but also adult friendly- So not over stimulating, color but muted, patterns but mature.
Swapped the rug for something super soft with warm tones. Painted the windows green. Added little cafe curtains. Painted the hutch white with stripes and dark waxed over it to give it an antique look. Added a little gallery around the tv. Wrapped the top of the toy box with fabric & added fringe to the bottom for something fun. We hung the giant disco ball for something a little unexpected and playful. This space feels comfortable for us to relax in AND fun for the boys.

A Sunday scene • all cleaned up from a sweetly slow & sticky pancake breakfast 🥞🍯

A bittersweet day as we cut down our 130+ year old maple tree. It truly is a staple to our home. I’ve always said “Were the house with the big tree out front”. But after losing a giant branch last spring we knew it was too much of a liability. I’ll miss the shade and privacy, the old trees character and charm it added to our home. I won’t miss the worry with every windstorm and raking all the leaves in the fall. So if you drive by and our house appears a little empty and more open, you know why. Silver lining to all of this, the removal will entertain Callan all day and I’ve planned out our new landscaping ✨🌳 remove our vinyl siding + restore back to the original wood, then paint it our favorite color. Add a charming picket fence + gate, refinish the path to cobblestone + add brick to the front steps + porch, seasonal blooms + all the added charm. Ready @brandongalik ? 🫶🏼

Elevated this thrifted frame by painting it, making a mat & then wrapping it with linen fabric & pairing it with a beautiful print. A little extra work is always worth it ✨

DIY Noticeboard

Materials:
- - Pin board
- - - Spray adhesive
- - Fabric
- - - - - Decorative nail tacks
- - - Hot glue

How to:
Cut your fabric to size, work in small sections and spray the adhesive on your board and smooth out the fabric over top. Layout your decorative nails and hammer into place. Wrap the fabric around the sides and hot glue to the back pulling tight! Hang your board and decorate!

Reimagined our staircase gallery wall and added more character to it with colored photos, mixed frames and styles. I once read somewhere that having photos displayed in your home help kids self esteem and help them feel valued and loved. No shortage of photos here and it’s my favorite thing to watch him stare at the photos and rattle off the names of everyone 🫶🏼

A very full season - full of laughter and love, full bellies, a full house, full of adventure, growth and change. Very grateful for all that has been and looking forward to celebrating this last month of 2024 ✨

Salt Dough Recipe ✨
1/2 cup salt
1/2 warm water
Mix to dissolve the salt a bit
Add 1 cup flour
Mix
Knead it out on a floured surface for 5 min
Then rolled it out, cut desired shape and baked at 250 for an hour or so - depending on how thin you roll it out - these stars are about 1/4” thick and I flipped them halfway through baking #saltdoughornaments #saltdoughrecipe #christmas #christmasdecor #deckthehalls

Almost ready for thanksgiving, my favorite holiday! So happy with how this dining room has come together and looking forward to all the memories we will share in this room 🫶🏼

The tree is up & we hosted our first round of Christmas minis ✨ reach out if you are interested in renting our home for photos!

36 fast hours to Michigan and back - girls trip (plus Cope) packed with good design, inspiration & a lot of laughter. I am exhausted but also feeling inspirationally refreshed ✨ Toured the Madison, Jean Stoffers home, 10,000 sq ft of immaculate design full of intentional details. Enjoyed her store & son’s coffee shop and of course made our way over to The Found Cottage for some more retail therapy. Grand Rapids you were a treat 🤌🏼

The silver lining of being without a dining table for the last 5ish months is plenty of room for dance parties! Here’s to hoping our table arrives before thanksgiving or you’ll see me with the fanciest folding tables.

I’ll look back on this time and enjoy the memories made in the dining room that would not have necessarily happened if we had a table. However I am anxiously planning our first meal around our new table. The table that will be the beginning of so many memories- holiday meals, weekly family dinners, homework, crafts, the birthdays, occasional family meetings .. everything important 🤍

+ roll out air clay
+ stamp your kiddos hand &/or feet
+ use a knife & cut out the outline
+ make a hole for the wire, I used a straw
+ let dry 48hrs
+ paint your ghosts
+ string them together, I used 16 gauge wire

🍂 it’s a windows and doors open kind of season 🍂 how about this weather!? 🤌🏼 looking forward to the chill that comes with the next few days though, stacking the logs for a fire and adding ingredients for a soup to this weeks shopping list.

spent the whole day resting yesterday after a whirlwind fun filled trip to NC visiting family. Came home & felt exhausted, so very under the weather. I’ve been forced to slow down & rest, so I did just that. I read @leannefordinteriors new book cover to cover which truly couldn’t have come at a better time. I leaned into the slow down, soaked up resting not only my body but my mind. It’s something I’ve been trying to be more intentional with. Resting is equally as important. Anyways, a handful of pretty pictures of things lately 🍂 hope you too are slowing down & embracing the season

Need an easy weekend diy craft?

+ fill a baking dish with very warm water
+ place your candle sticks in & set for 5 min
+ refresh with very warm water again & let set for another 5 min
+ pull a candle stick out and slowly start to shape & form to desired ghost
+ once you’ve shaped all your candle sticks, dry & color a ghost face
